Baboon drawing

hannah_lewis_baboon

Along with the lion drawing, I’m drawing an african baboon. So far everything going well, but the detail of the hair is going to take me a long time to do.

I would love it if you would leave a comment and let me know what you think about this drawing, and if you have any tips that you can give me.

Stage 3 drawing the lion’s fur

hannah_lewis_lion_drawing_03

I’m now at the stage where I am drawing the lion’s fur. I’m taking my time and trying not to rush it because I want it to turn out really good. After that all I need to do is the eyes and the snout. Again I would love to have feedback (positive or negative) so I know what you think.

Stage 2 of Lion drawing

The next stage to my lion drawing. So far this photograph has taken me much longer than I expected, but it’s my first animal drawing, so I want to do it properly.

Feel free to comment on this drawing, as I would love to know what you think. 😀

Derwent Pencil Wrap

Since I’ve began drawing, I’ve grown a bit tired of carrying around tins of pencils whenever I draw outside of my home. I thought about getting a pencil case, but if I’m out and about I wanted something that would give me easy access to the pencils instead of me continuously digging to find the right pencil.

I found this pencil wrap online when I was searching for charcoal pencils and at £4.99 I thought that I could give it a go. It arrived today and in great time too because I’m going on a long train ride, so I can spend most of my time drawing.

Low light photography

At this present moment I’m researching low lighting, so I thought that I would post a bunch of photographs that I found interesting.

Beginning of my lion drawing

hannah_lewis_lion_drawing

The beginning of my pencil drawing of a lion. This will be my second colouring pencil drawing that I have ever spent time doing. I’m not sure what to think about it so far because it looks like a dog to me, but it’s early stages.

Although I mainly specialise in photography I wanted to try and regain my skills in drawing and painting, so from now on I will be blogging about all different  art work that I produce.

Last minute details for my exhibition, but I’m in two minds if I should include the text. I’ll decide when I hang up the photograph.

Luke Smith: George

I believe we have arrived at a critical point within photography with what can only be described as a societal paranoia with the censoring of the child’s image. I believe if we are not careful we will contribute to a future of imagery without children present.

This piece of work is titled George which created the absence/loss of the child within the images. Each image has been constructed as an empty space with the trace of what took place.

This is my favourite project that I have seen so far, the ideas and how it has been carried out is brilliant.
